In recent years the real estate market on Bonaire saw, in certain areas, price increases of 10 to even 15 % annually. Since the beginning of the economic crisis prices have stabilized. A real drop in prices has not occurred. Expectations are that prices will pick up again starting the second half of 2009.

3. Financing possibilities

In recent years the number of non-stop flights from the US has increased, the number of flights from the Netherlands has stabilized more or less. Bonaire has chosen the US dollar as its official currency once the central administration on the Netherlands Antilles will have been lifted in the near future.

Banks on Bonaire have proven less sensitive to the international financial crisis. They are still prepared to finance real estate.
