Bonaire very much values the preservation of its beautiful scenery.
The sea around Bonaire is on the World Heritage List and thus well protected.
About 65 % of the island is a nature preserve and ecotourism is considered of paramount importance.
Guides, diving schools, park rangers, inhabitants and tourists are obviously expected to treat the environment properly in order to preserve the magnificent and unique scenery on Bonaire.
Durability
Per 2009 Bonaire has chosen for durable energy by placing 13 wind mills on the Northeastern shore of the island, at which location they can profit the most from the trade winds.
The wind capacity should be sufficient to provide electricity for the whole island.
